Orphanage Needs

So now that I have a sweet face and name, my heart is hooked and the adoption finally seems "real". We got an e-mail this week saying Tiny Tot K was transferred from the only home she's ever known to another orphanage that will be easier to get to when we first meet her. This is because her home orphanage is very remote with lots of road work, making it hard to get to. They are also short on staff to help us travel and be our translators. My heart sunk knowing this was one of 3 big changes she'll make over the next couple of months, but I know it's getting her one step closer to us. New nannies, new children, and not knowing what's happening and why. Thankful their was a familiar face that was moving with her. We're coming K, we're coming!

We have another great opportunity for you to help and it may be as simple as cleaning out your closets or cabinets. Our agency has several orphanages in Ethiopia and they are in need of the following items that we can take over when we go. I know I don't live close to most of you anymore, but if you have something you want to send over, let me know and I can meet you the next time I'm in Raleigh.

·         baby scales – metric
·         regular scales – metric
(We realize that scales may be expensive but wanted to make this big need known in case anyone would like to provide them! Our current scales are not registering very accurately as the nannies have been weighing the older children on them! Thus the need for regular and baby scales!)
·         baby wipes
·         extra nipples for bottles
·         plastic bottles
·         wash cloths – lightweight for easy wash and dry
·         hand towels
·         infant and toddler toys
·         Depends for the widows at the W&OH
·         size 1T, 2T, 3T & 4T clothes
·         baby clothes 0-24 mos and premie sizes – no onsies or snap crotch

Hi there! I don't think we've ever met, I clicked over here from Ashley Brown's blog because the title "Orphanage needs" caught my attention. My husband and I are also adopting from Ethiopia and I'm excited to see you a few steps ahead. I'm excited about watching your journey, what an encouragement to accidentally find you. God bless your precious Tiny Tot K!!!

Sept 5, 2012 - Picked up Kena Forever!
Aug 28, 2012 - Cleared Embassy!
July 17, 2012 - Case submitted to Embassy
June 20, 2012 - Passed Court, we are officially Kena's parents.
June 19, 2012 - Met Kena Rose Corbett for the first time!
June 1, 2012 - Received our Court Date, leaving June 16, 2012
May 3, 2012 - Accepted a referral for Tiny Tot K!
March 5, 2012 - Received approval form I171-h from USCIS
Feb 6, 2012 - completed our biometric fingerprints at USCIS
Jan 17, 2012 - Mailed I600a
Jan 6, 2012 - received final home study in the mail
Jan 2, 2012 - received corrected home study only to send back with more corrections
Nov 16, 2011 - Received FBI fingerprints, both of our backgrounds clear.
Nov 14, 2011 - Home Study received to review, waiting on FBI fingerprints to be approved.
Sept 13, 2011 - Second Home Study meeting
Sept 1, 2011 - First Home Study meeting
Aug 16, 2011 - Sent in our application for our Home Study
Aug 8, 2011 - Mailed the acceptance fee in to CHI after we prayed that God would multiply it times 10!
July 26, 2011 - Accepted by Children's House International
July 22, 2011 - Sent Application to Children's House International
July 21, 2011 - Received Home Study Application
July 12, 2011 - Accepted to YWAM, started filling out Children's House International application (CHI is the agency that is licensed in Ethiopia and partners with YWAM)
June 22, 2011 - Mailed application to YWAM
June 13, 2011 - Off waiting list, started filling out application
April 11, 2011 - Placed on YWAM's waiting list to be accepted
April 6, 2011 - Found YWAM as our agency

How to make a Tax deductible contribution

Adoption Ministry offers an adoption fund service for those who wish to help with our adoption expenses and wish to make their donation as a tax deduction. Friends and family can donate to 'Adoption Ministry of YWAM' and ask that the money be applied to our adoption account. Our name cannot appear anywhere on the check, not even on the item line, but a note can accompany the check asking that it be used for The Corbett family adoption expenses. You will then receive a tax receipt for your donation. Please send checks to:

How you can be praying for us

*Pray for God's hand of protection on our little girl whether in utero or already born.
*Pray for the nannies to take good care of her.
*Pray for her parents where ever they are, if they are still alive, to feel God's peace.
*That we can be light to a country in darkness and despair.
*That we will be God's vessels to speak and testify the truth to everyone who asks why we are adopting.
*For paperwork to be completed correctly and in a timely manner.
*That God would continue to provide in His perfect timing.
*That He would prepare our hearts and our children's hearts for our new daughter and sister.
*Prayer for those who have already adopted. That God would continue to poor out His blessings through encouragement and equipping for what He has called them to do.
