First Trip and Prayer Requests

We have a court date!!!! and it's very soon..... and my head is spinning, but the thought of meeting our Tiny Tot K will make this all worthwhile.  We leave in less than 2 weeks as our court date is set for June 20th!

If you read our last post we have the privilege of helping out several of YWAM's orphanages and they are in need of many things listed that you may have right in your closet.  If you have any of these items that we can take, get them together and leave me a comment with your contact info.  I will not publish these comments.

We will only be meeting "K" on this trip and our court date is to legally become her parents.  She will then be assigned an embassy appointment to obtain her Visa.  We then make a 2nd trip to come get her.  With this trip we could definitely use your prayers so I've put together a list of how to pray specifically:
We would love to have as many prayer warriors as we can.

6/16/12 - Saturday
We leave Raleigh at 6am - 18 hours of travel (Sunday morning arrival) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They are 7 hours ahead of us.
Pray for safe and uneventful travel. Pray for Bryce, Stacy, and Jay who will be at their grandparent’s house.  For all to stay healthy and behave.  Pray for their caretakers (Laura’s parents) – Alan and Cathy Creedy.

6/17/12 -  Sunday
Get checked in to our guest house.  We might do a little shopping, check out some museums, and experience Ethiopian food and culture.  We would like to capture as much information and pictures as we can to hold on to for Tiny Tot K.  Pray for a good night's sleep. Pray for our stomach's while there that we wouldn't eat or drink anything unsafe.

6/18/12 – Monday
We are free to explore today and hope to see some of the surroundings and mountains by going on a hike.  Pray for safe travel to and from and that God would use us wherever we go to the people we come in contact with.
6/19/12 - Tuesday
We will take a 2 hr drive to Adama where “K’s” orphanage is.  We will be able to visit with her and her nannies for a few hours.  Pray for that first meeting, for hearts to click between parents and daughter.  Pray for wisdom, to hold or not to hold, to know what to say or how to best interact with her.  Pray that we can pick up on her routine and learn about what she likes and doesn’t like. We’ll then drive 2 hrs back to Addis.  This will be the hardest part of the journey, leaving someone we know will be ours who has no idea what’s going on and that we are her parents.

6/20/12- Wednesday
Court Day!! This is where “K” will become officially our daughter and we will become officially her parents.  Pray there will be no hiccups and they pass this day. There have been many cases that do not pass the first time thru and this delays bringing the child home, so pray that they pass this Wed. Pray that no additional paper work in needed. Pray for favor with the judge.
“K” will then be moved again to the main orphanage through Children’s House International called the Thomas Center. She already moved once recently, pray for her to be at peace with another new place and new nannies.
-Wednesday night
At 10:15pm, we will leave to return to Raleigh.  Pray for safe and uneventful travel on this 25 hour adventure coming home and that we would be able to sleep on the plane.  That there would not be any delays. Pray for our emotions, that we would be able to process all that has happened and what we’ve seen, etc.

6/21/12 – Thursday
After 24 hours of travel, we will arrive in Raleigh at 4:50 pm on Thursday, June 21st.
Pray over jet lag, culture shock, emotions. Pray for us to be able to share with the 3 kids all about Ethiopia and “K”.  Pray that we do not get sick upon our arrival home. Pray for the 2nd trip to come soon.  The minimum wait time has been around 3-4 months and their courts close for the rainy season in August/September.  Things can always change, but pray that everything comes in correctly for “K’s” embassy appointment to obtain her visa so we can return to pick her up.  We are expecting to go around October / November.

In Jesus precious name, Amen!
