Puzzle Fundraiser

One of my favorite illustrations when trying to figure out God's will for our lives is the puzzle box. Imagine our lives are like a bunch of mixed up puzzle pieces and we don't know how to put it together because God is holding the top of the box with the picture on it. Which means we have to look to him when determining his will for our lives or we end up frustrated and defeated with a bunch of pieces here, there, and everywhere. This illustration is a constant reminder that when we don't know what to do next, our first and best option should be to ask him because he knows.

So I'm very excited about incorporating this illustration in our final fundraiser, The Puzzle! We are very close to finding out who the new addition to our family will be. With that comes a hefty dose of fees that will also include travel to Ethiopia, not once but twice! The part I love is that for each piece you sponsor, I will write your name on the back of the puzzle piece. We will then put it together and frame the puzzle in a clear frame front and back so that our future child can have a lifelong reminder of all the people that helped bring her home as she grows up. Cool, right!

I want to give a very special thanks to Laura Hileman for donating her time and services to photograph our family in order to make this 500 piece customized puzzle which we ordered using the picture below. We spelled out Ethiopia on our hands (thanks to an idea on Pinterest) and our back drop is in one of our favorite spots in Raleigh, Umstead Park.

Each piece is $20 and you can purchase one or as many pieces as you like. When the puzzle is completed, we will have raised $10,000!(minus some paypal fees). We need your help to do this so pass it on to friends, neighbors, whoever you know that may to take part in this child's life. We are blessed to have you all in the pieces of our lives and are extremely grateful for your prayers, love, and support as we continue this process.

Sept 5, 2012 - Picked up Kena Forever!
Aug 28, 2012 - Cleared Embassy!
July 17, 2012 - Case submitted to Embassy
June 20, 2012 - Passed Court, we are officially Kena's parents.
June 19, 2012 - Met Kena Rose Corbett for the first time!
June 1, 2012 - Received our Court Date, leaving June 16, 2012
May 3, 2012 - Accepted a referral for Tiny Tot K!
March 5, 2012 - Received approval form I171-h from USCIS
Feb 6, 2012 - completed our biometric fingerprints at USCIS
Jan 17, 2012 - Mailed I600a
Jan 6, 2012 - received final home study in the mail
Jan 2, 2012 - received corrected home study only to send back with more corrections
Nov 16, 2011 - Received FBI fingerprints, both of our backgrounds clear.
Nov 14, 2011 - Home Study received to review, waiting on FBI fingerprints to be approved.
Sept 13, 2011 - Second Home Study meeting
Sept 1, 2011 - First Home Study meeting
Aug 16, 2011 - Sent in our application for our Home Study
Aug 8, 2011 - Mailed the acceptance fee in to CHI after we prayed that God would multiply it times 10!
July 26, 2011 - Accepted by Children's House International
July 22, 2011 - Sent Application to Children's House International
July 21, 2011 - Received Home Study Application
July 12, 2011 - Accepted to YWAM, started filling out Children's House International application (CHI is the agency that is licensed in Ethiopia and partners with YWAM)
June 22, 2011 - Mailed application to YWAM
June 13, 2011 - Off waiting list, started filling out application
April 11, 2011 - Placed on YWAM's waiting list to be accepted
April 6, 2011 - Found YWAM as our agency

How to make a Tax deductible contribution

Adoption Ministry offers an adoption fund service for those who wish to help with our adoption expenses and wish to make their donation as a tax deduction. Friends and family can donate to 'Adoption Ministry of YWAM' and ask that the money be applied to our adoption account. Our name cannot appear anywhere on the check, not even on the item line, but a note can accompany the check asking that it be used for The Corbett family adoption expenses. You will then receive a tax receipt for your donation. Please send checks to:

*Pray for God's hand of protection on our little girl whether in utero or already born.
*Pray for the nannies to take good care of her.
*Pray for her parents where ever they are, if they are still alive, to feel God's peace.
*That we can be light to a country in darkness and despair.
*That we will be God's vessels to speak and testify the truth to everyone who asks why we are adopting.
*For paperwork to be completed correctly and in a timely manner.
*That God would continue to provide in His perfect timing.
*That He would prepare our hearts and our children's hearts for our new daughter and sister.
*Prayer for those who have already adopted. That God would continue to poor out His blessings through encouragement and equipping for what He has called them to do.
